Dairy products with more than 40 days of shelf life must be labelled

This includes milk, powdered milk, butter, cottage cheese, cream, condensed milk, fermented milk products with an extended shelf life, etc.

Labelling of dairy products is being implemented in stages:

  • from January 20, 2021 — voluntary labelling;
  • from June 1, 2021 — mandatory labelling of ice cream and cheese;
  • from September 1, 2021 — mandatory labelling of dairy products with an expiration date of more than 40 days;
  • from December 1, 2021 — mandatory labelling of dairy products with a short shelf life;
  • from January 20, 2022 — register the sales of labelled dairy products with an expiration date of up to 40 days by cash registers;
  • from June 1, 2022 — record the sales of labelled dairy products with an expiration date of more than 40 days by cash registers;
  • from September 1, 2022 — volume and article accounting for wholesale and retail trade, as well as for all participants in the turnover, it is mandatory to transfer information about the withdrawal of products from circulation in the form of volume and varietal accounting;
  • from December 1, 2022 — labelling becomes compulsory for farmers.
