The rules for the stay of migrants are planned to be changed.

Such innovations are spelled out in the draft federal law developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It is planned to introduce three new modes of stay of foreigners:

  • short-term stay (no more than 90 days in total during a calendar year);
  • long-term stay (over 90 days in total during a calendar year without obtaining a permanent residence permit);
  • permanent residence (indefinite).

The Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to allow foreigners to get a job regardless of the main purpose of their stay. This includes operating as a self-employed person or registering as an individual entrepreneur.

But only if they pay taxes to the budget.
